Field Status for Tuesday, May 8th, 2012
All practice facilities are open, however if you do encounter standing water, please move to a different space
Check the hotline weekdays after 4:00 PM for updates. For weather changes after 4:00 PM, it is the coaches' decision.
Saturday games: check the hot-line 1 hour before game time.
Sunday games: the hot-line is updated by 12:00p. For updates after 12:00 PM the decision will be made at the field.
Do not practice on wet fields. Use space off the fields for drills. If lightning or thunder exists: take cover & stop play for 15 minutes. DO NOT CONTINUE if additional lightning or thunder. Please help the WSA check goals to insure they are staked before each practice or game for player safety. If you find a field situation that needs to be addressed email pres@westlakesoccer.org
Operation Hope
Operation Hope is organized by Mark and Brian Sutcliffe (Westlake High School Students) to collect used soccer equipment to be shipped to African Refugee Camps. Equipment they are collecting: soccer shoes, soccer balls, shin guards, jerseys, shorts and socks. Monetary donations are accepted to help with the shipping costs.

Travel Soccer Tryout Information Travel Soccer Tryouts begin this week! This is for the soccer year that begins in the Fall of 2012.
All tryouts begin at 5:30pm at the fields designated below.
1. Dress for soccer and bring a soccer ball and water bottle.
2. Print out the registration packet and bring all the completed forms to the tryouts (links below). All players will need a 1x1 photo.
New travel soccer players will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate

4. Players will be notified on June 18th of their team placement.

Follow the WIST on Facebook Volunteers Needed!
Westlake Soccer Association is an all-volunteer organization, looking to fill several volunteer positions.
1.
Boys Travel Commissioner – Responsible for administrating the Travel side of boys soccer, including team declaration with the league (AASL), assisting coaches and generally making sure the boys can play their season;
2.
Director of Fields – Directing the set up and tear down of the soccer fields each year and working on the long term strategy of field use and rotation;
These positions are also posted on the WSA Website.

pres@westlakesoccer.org for further information or to apply for a position. It is our hope to collect applications for the next several weeks with the hopes of filling these important roles by the June Board of Trustees Meeting.
Special thanks to Mark Fusco who recently retired as Boy Travel Commissioner. Mark spent almost 5 years filling that role and has been a valuable asset to our organization and the soccer community as a whole. His passion and dedication are an inspiration and we hope he will consider sticking around in some other capacity.
